Join Bev Rosen, a historian whose lectures, training, workshops, national presentations, and tours have delighted 100’s of students, visitors and members of Academic settings, Senior Learning Institutes, the Jewish Museum, the Maryland Center for History and Culture, Baltimore Heritage, and many other organizations. One of her areas of interest specifically being the history of Jonestown, she conducts courses and walking tours on this topic.
Partake in this 4 part educational experience discussing and dissecting the historic Jonestown which is Baltimore’s oldest neighborhood – and
perhaps the least known. Its origins go back to anearly settlement in 1661 and its founding in 1772 led to its eventual merger with Baltimore. Located in
East Baltimore, it was a mix of residential, community, and industrial neighborhoods. This particularly Jewish area was the second largest point
of entry for immigrants after Ellis Island. Also learn about the landscape, stories, and people of Jonestownthrough four centuries of American history.
The class will meet on Wednesdays, October 8th and 22nd, and November 5th & 19th.
