Support Bykota

Bykota is built on the generosity of our community. Whether you give your time as a volunteer or your financial support as a donor, your contribution directly impacts the lives of our members. Because of your generosity with your time and financial support, all our members enjoy:

  • Essential Resources: Access to healthcare, nutrition, and tax preparation information.
  • Fitness & Wellness: Yoga, Tai Chi, Enhance Fitness, Essentrics, and our Fitness Center.
  • Creative & Social Activities: Drawing, Watercolor, Stained Glass, Ceramics, Woodcarving, Mah-jong, Scrabble, Bridge, and more.
  • Special Events: Holiday celebrations, contests, scavenger hunts, and the Veterans Day Luncheon (free for veterans and their caregivers).

Thank you for empowering us.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteering at Bykota is more than just helping—it’s an investment in your own health and well-being.

Research shows that giving your time offers senior citizens significant health benefits, including a stronger sense of purpose, reduced social isolation and depression, slower cognitive decline, and improved physical activity. This leads to higher overall well-being and even a potentially longer lifespan!

Join the team and experience the benefits firsthand. Bykota is powered by volunteers like you. There are many ways to use your time and talents:

  • Daily Operations: The welcome desk, fitness center, gift shop, cafe, and travel center all rely on dedicated volunteers.
  • Special Events: Can you only help every now and then? Consider volunteering for an event to help set up, serve, or clean up. There’s always a way to get involved.
  • Volunteer with a Buddy: Have a friend you love spending time with? The two of you could volunteer to serve at the welcome desk or in the cafe together.
  • Share a Talent: Do you have any special skills or interests? Consider leading a one-time workshop or sharing your expertise with other members!

Donating: Your Gift Matters

Many people think that the county pays for all the activities at Bykota, but it doesn’t. Instead, it provides the building, utilities, and for a handful of personnel. All other activities are paid for by members.

Bykota Senior Center Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. While we earn income from class fees, many of our most meaningful programs are only possible thanks to donations.
